ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਕਉਨੁ ਕੁਮਤਿ ਤੈ ਲੀਨੀ ॥ ਪਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਰਸ ਰਚਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਤੈ ਨਾਹਨਿ ਧਨ ਜੋਰਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਇਆ ॥ ਅੰਤਿ ਸੰਗ ਕਾਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਦੀਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਆਪੁ ਬੰਧਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
सोरठि महला ९ ॥
मन रे कउनु कुमति तै लीनी ॥ पर दारा निंदिआ रस रचिओ राम भगति नहि कीनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ मुकति पंथु जानिओ तै नाहनि धन जोरन कउ धाइआ ॥ अंति संग काहू नही दीना बिरथा आपु बंधाइआ ॥१॥
English Translation :
Sorat’h, Ninth Mehl:
O mind, what evil-mindedness have you developed? You are engrossed in the pleasures of other men’s wives, and slander; you have not worshipped the Lord at all. ||1|| Pause || You do not know the way to liberation, but you run all around chasing wealth. In the end, nothing shall go along with you; you have entrapped yourself in vain. ||1||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ :-
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ? ਤੂੰ ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੂੰ (ਕਦੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ (ਅਜੇ ਤਕ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ, ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਦੌੜ-ਭਜ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ । (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਤੂੰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਜਕੜ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
